François Girard made a success with his bloody version of Wagner's Parsifal at the Met. Now he's taking on another Wagner classic. Bryn Terfel sings for the first time on the Met starring as the Dutchman, who was sentenced to wander over the seas forever.
Anja Kampe is the devoted Senta, whose love can set him free. She is possessed by a portrait of the legendary sailor. Therefore, Mets scene is transformed into a colossal oil painting. Franz-Josef Selig is Senta's father Daland, Sergei Skorokhodov is the hunter Erik, David Portillo is Rorsman and Mihoko Fujimura is Senta's nurse Mary.
